Aung San Suu Kyi freed

After completing a farce of an election and to fool the world public, the Myanmar army has freed Aung San Suu Kyi.

The freedom granted to Suu Kyi is welcome. She has been a tireless leader, who has sacrificed her personal life and freedom for the sake of her people. How many such leaders do we have in the world today?

I remember reading that she refused to visit her dying husband, Aris, as she feared that the junta would refuse her re-entry into the country. The fact that she has not set foot out of her home, let her country despite all the strife and the threats from the junta is testimony to her iron will.

She has also come to the top position of her party and country, by virtue of her leadership, not by being the daughter of Aung San, the father of modern Myanmar. Despite winning the 1990 General Elections, fair and square, the junta has nullified

She has been intimated by the junta but never given up her self respect or her fight. Only wish that the junta respect the true wishes of the people and let Aung San lead the country to prosperity and democracy
